The cabochon is from 1930s Czechoslovakia, where its back was carved and painted by master craftspersons. It's actually clear glass and the front face is perfectly smooth! Mr. Peacock twinkles quietly in shades of lilac and light blue, so when I mounted him in his antiqued silver tone setting, I added crystal rhinestones to match those tones. That wasn't nearly enough, so I beaded around the edges with Swarovski crystal bicones in the same colours, and added a 21-1/2" strand of matching beads. The pendant drops about 2" below the strand.
