Fabulous vintage 'papier mache' beads in a combination of adobe peach and magenta meld with disco-cut (128 facet) emerald crystal in this whimsical piece of summer jewellery. Papier mache beads were actually made of a lightweight foam-like substance, then painted with numerous coats of enamel to give them a hard, shiny shell. The process did not lend itself to the making of small items; indeed, the peach-coloured beads are an inch in diameter! About 19" long, it is almost weightless despite its bulk.
