The centrepiece is quite substantial and has an interesting granular finish on the front, while the back is relatively smooth.

It's from the late 1960s or early 1970s and is very fine gold plate.

The back shows slight wear; enough to make it interesting, but not enough to make it ugly.

I've added a fringe of lapis lazuli round- and teardrop-shaped beads and some gold plate findings so that the entire focal measures 4-3/8" from the top loops to the bottom of the longest dangle; by 2-1/2" across at its widest.

I've used the same beads and findings, plus tiny faceted gold plate sead beads, to make a 16" strand that closes with a gold plate hook set.

The colour combination is rich, the styling is lavish, and the result is a necklace that looks like a million!

That it costs considerably less will be our little secret.
