The focal point of this unique beauty is the 33 x 24mm silver vermeil plaque, which was made in Hungary about a century ago. It is set with a gorgeous rectangle of deep green chalcedony surrounded by a quartet of silvery-white blister pearls. The silver elements are all hand-crafted and -soldered, and then the piece is gold plated ... it is a miracle of fine craftsmanship, and the back is just as awe-inspiring as the front. I've added a pair of 3" tassles, made of gold plate chain, freshwater pearls, and vintage Indian lampwork beads that match the chalcedony to perfection. The same pearls and beads are used again in the strand, along with golden glow glass Japanese seed beads. The strand is about 25-1/2" long, and closes with an art nouveau style toggle clasp. The clasp -- like the roundels in the tassle and strand -- is gold plate over cast pewter. I'll shorten the necklace at a buyer's request, but as it is now it's perfect to wear with a turtleneck.
