The beautiful crescent centrepiece on this necklace is gold fill, and dates from the late 1950s.
It measures about 1" in either direction, and has a substantial weight for its size.
The chaising is a floral and scrollwork pattern, picked out in black enamel.
It's quite obvious that this is a quality piece.
I've added rhodolite garnets and gold fill arrows to make a simple fringe, and used more garnets -- 4mm and 8mm in diameter -- in the 17" strand.
I've also used matte black and gold seed beads and a brass maelstrom pattern toggle clasp to complement the centrepiece.
Keep in mind that garnet is the birthstone for January, and that garnet jewellery will make a grand gift for the lady born in that month.
You know this piece will please; it's from SPARKLE PLENTY.
